Summary:

The Production Equipment Mechanic II is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of process equipment used in pharmaceutical filling operations. This role requires advanced technical expertise to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and in compliance with GMP standards. The mechanic will work with schematics, technical drawings, and manuals to perform preventive and corrective maintenance while proactively identifying opportunities for equipment optimization. Additionally, this role involves documenting all maintenance activities in an electronic work order system and maintaining clear communication with cross-functional teams. The mechanic is expected to demonstrate integrity, self-accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement in all maintenance operations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of vial and syringe production machinery to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, SOPs, and manuals to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues while ensuring compliance.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to implement equipment improvements and modifications.
• Train and support junior mechanics and production personnel in basic troubleshooting and equipment operation.
• Assist in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance.
• Assures that facility engineering drawing and associated documentation (including work orders and ECOs) are effectively and compliantly updated and maintained. 
• Performs routine preventive maintenance on vial and syringe production machinery. 
• Works cooperatively with and maintains relationships with employees and other professionals. 
• Supports senior-level staff during troubleshooting and investigations. 
• Follows cGMPs, and SOPs, and complies with all safety requirements while performing all activities.
• Attends meetings and participates on committees as required.
• Works overtime as needed and is available for 24-hour on-call duty.
• Documents work performed on work orders. 
• Completes routine PMs by the assigned due dates. 
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed by the immediate supervisor. 
• Read/interpret SOPs to ensure compliance
• Maintain up to date trainings
• Other duties as assigned

 

Education and/or Experience:                                                       

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 
• Minimum of one (1) year of mechanic experience in a maintenance setting
• Hands-on experience in the operation/maintenance of manufacturing equipment in a pharmaceutical environment, preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                                            

This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills:                                                        

Ability to read and interpret documents such as, but not limited to, safety instructions, standard operating procedures, policies, and manuals.  Ability to write clearly and communicate effectively.
