Job Description

AECOM is excited to welcome a passionate and experienced Senior Bridge Engineer to lead impactful SCDOT projects. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to provide specialized technical input, overseeing innovative bridge and structural designs. Our offices are located in Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville, South Carolina. You can joins us at any one of these locations. AECOM promotes a hybrid work environment for this position. Join our South Carolina Transportation Business Line team that continues to provide top-quality engineering and services to our clients.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.
  • Provides specialized technical input and oversight to studies and designs for bridge and other transportation structural elements such as culverts and walls.
  • Reviews submittals and shop drawings.
  • Evaluate design calculations for projects.
  • Examines existing structures and load ratings.
  • Prepares necessary plans, specifications, estimates and technical memorandums.
  • Approves and signs off on work.
  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
  • Participates in development of technical proposals.
  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
  • Market bridge and structural design services to clients.
  • Lead junior engineers and work successfully on a team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) in South Carolina or ability to transfer through reciprocity

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of industry standards and practices
  • Experience with Local SCDOT projects.
  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience presenting at conferences, on papers or technical meetings.
