Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Senior MRI Techno that will under the guidance of the Director, supervises activities of technologists/students working and/or rotating through the department including their discipline and performance while in that area. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

 

What your day will look like:

  • Coordinates work flow in department and other areas of hospital
  • Provides professional and technical guidance and confers with medical staff as appropriate
  • Assures availability and functioning of supplies and equipment; makes recommendations on hiring, firing and disciplining staff
  • Oversees Imaging students and evaluates assigned students
  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
  • Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
  • Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
  • Shall at all times work under the direction of the medical director.
  • Takes MR/CT calls according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours.
  • Completes all work before clocking out and leaving.  Informs nursing if exam cannot be performed on the day ordered.
  • Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
  • Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
  • Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination; documents and deviation.
  • Interacts professionally with patient/family.
  • Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer's instruction.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
  • Must be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
  • Has knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of other departments.

 

Success Factors:

  • Bachelor of Science degree is preferred, but not required. 
  • Required:  Graduate of accredited Imaging Program
  • One year of radiologic/imaging experience. 
  • Required:  3 years MRI experience 
  • Preferred:  2 years supervisory experience
  • Prefer specific experience and training in CT/MRI.
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • ARRT and CRT certification. 
  • Current AHA BLSf6 certification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. 
  • Possesses a high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Proficiency with most major MRI/CT equipment manufacturer's hardware and software.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Additional languages preferred.  
  • Basic computer knowledge.
