Supervises: Development Department
Rate of Pay: $150,000-155,000/year

Benefits: Standard; Full-Time, Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Divisional Commander the Director of Development will provide professional leadership and direction to the fund raising effort in the Intermountain Division. Will plan, organize and direct all ongoing and special project-funding programs for the Intermountain Division. Will oversee all areas of development including planning, interpretation, coordination, implementation and management of fundraising activities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Will ensure that the following programs are appropriately staffed and operate productively and efficiently within their budgets: Planned Giving; Financial Development; Donor Relations; Capital Campaigns; Major Gifts; Stock Gifts; Foundation Grants; Public Relations; Volunteer Services; Direct Marketing.
- Prepare strategic plan with short and long-range goals to meet funding objectives. Coordinate and evaluate fundraising strategies, regulations and procedures.
- Ensure that existing donor relationships are maintained and new income sources are cultivated. Oversee advanced research in locating and nurturing new prospects.
- Appoint, lead, evaluate and manage development staff to ensure that established goals are met.
- Responsible for the organization, management and oversight of a major capital campaign. Provide consulting support to locations that may be anticipating or planning capital fund campaigns.
- Serve as the liaison between The Salvation Army and the Metro Denver Advisory Board to assure positive, ongoing relationships and support.
- Establish development policies, systems and procedures.
- Prepare and administer department budget.
- Develop and submit funding proposals from private foundations, corporations and other agencies.
- Plan and coordinate fund and solicitation drives for ongoing and special projects. Identifies potential contributors through examination of past records, individual and corporate contracts, and knowledge of community.
- Develop donor recognition program.
- Inform potential contributors of special needs and encourages individuals, corporations, and foundations to establish or contribute to special funds through donations, endowments, trusts or bequests.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of The Salvation Army's mission, philosophy and strategic priorities within the Rocky Mountain region. Knowledge of principals and practices of individual, corporate, foundation, grants, and budgetary areas.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college or university in Fund Raising, Business Administration, Marketing or a related field. Ten or more years experience with progressive responsibility in fund raising and management.
Licenses & Certificates
- National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE) Certificate as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (NSFRE) is desirable.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have the ability to obtain a valid Colorado Driver's License.
