Job Description:
The Douglas County Court in Omaha, NE is taking applications for a full time Records Clerk position in our Probate Division. This is an entry level position with the potential for advancement to Probate Clerk. Data entry and attention to detail is paramount.
Work involves performing a variety of clerical functions associated with probate, guardianships, conservatorships, adoptions, estates, and other similar court roles. Probate is a separate and distinct Division within Douglas County Court, outside of Criminal/Traffic and Civil/Small Claims. Tasks include responding to routine inquiries, typing and computer functions under the supervision of the Probate Division Manager.
HIRING RATE (during probationary period): $34,145.41 annually
MINIMUM PERMANENT RATE (after probationary period): $34,999.14 annually

ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITY: Upon completion of training and recommendation from the employee’s management team, the incumbent in this position has the potential for advancement and reclassification to the position of Probate Clerk with up to a 10% pay increase. The Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation will provide training as well as online education to support this advancement opportunity.

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in a related field or High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) combined with 4 years of related experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Higher education may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: The ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required. At least one year of court/law office experience or experience in processing and/or accounting for cash payments.
Other: Successful completion of "on the job training" in JUSTICE (the statewide computer system) will be required within six months of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requirements include typing skills, computer and data entry skills; the ability to follow instructions, strong customer service skills and good phone manners. Some knowledge of standard bookkeeping/financial procedures and practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other court employees and the general public.
