Experienced Software Engineer - Storage

The storage team is growing! We build the storage backing Plaid’s Core Data Models used by all of engineering. The goal is to improve plaid's storage systems to be more reliable, scalable and efficient.
As an engineer on the storage team, you will have the opportunity to influence and scale the vision and strategy of the team, design, deploy and scale our storage platform. You will build tools to improve operation automations. You will wield terraform and cloud resources with confidence and certainty. You will partner with our main stakeholder team to understand their current storage and future storage requirements

Responsibilities

• Large dataset scalability
• Designing resilient systems
• Handling ambiguity of challenging open world problems
• Fixing difficult issues in storage engines by understanding their source code
• Meticulous migrations
• Saving product engineers days and weeks of effort through our storage foundation’s capabilities

Qualifications

• 5+ years of dedicated backend or platform experience
• 1+ years of specialization in storage technologies preferred
• Database orchestration and optimization
• Storage platform design
• Working with data storage at scale
• Infrastructure background (Terraform, AWS)
• Experience building custom cli tooling to automate your procedures
• Designing runbooks with care towards system behavior
• Nice to have: Interest in future developments and optimizations in data storage technology
