About the role
As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will lead the development of a human annotation platform for the Search organization. The platform will be used by a team of data annotators and will support a variety of use cases, including machine learning model training, data analysis, and quality assurance. You will work closely with project managers, data scientists, and other software engineers to ensure that the platform meets business requirements and is scalable, reliable, and secure.
Key job responsibilities
* Design and develop the human data annotation platform, including the architecture, database schema, and user interface.
* Work with AWS data processing and storing technologies like Timestream, StepFunction, Glue, Athena etc.
* Integrate different internal data sources into the labeling tools to simplify access to those data sources and improve quality of the labeled data.
* Build and maintain an internal portal for labeling teams, and team managers.
* Maintain a focus on scalability, latency, performance, and cost trade-offs in new software systems.
* Work with leading AI labeling providers across the world to integrate their solutions to the platform.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in Search, A/B experimentation, Distributed Computing, Data Analysis, Information Retrieval.
