Position Specific Description
This is a Wind Tech 3 position located in Livermore, California.
Join NextEra Energy, the nation's largest infrastructure developer. Critical front-line role ensuring safe and optimal wind farm operations. Focus on equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and long-term reliability.
Site Details: • Altamont Cluster - 102 turbines (GE 1.7's/2.3's, Siemens 2.3's) • All turbines equipped with 3S Lifts for enhanced safety • Located in Northern California's high-demand region.
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute Safety Management System procedures and OSHA compliance
• Work outdoors at heights in various weather conditions
• Troubleshoot electrical components (relays, breakers, contactors)
• Maintain mechanical components (motors, gear drives)
• Perform routine annual preventative maintenance
• Operate provided tablet technology
• Collaborate on maintenance solutions and improvement projects
• Support recruitment and development of other technicians
• Assist with safety/environmental reporting and turbine availability
• Participate in Lean Six Sigma processes

Job Overview
Employees in this role perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and other associated equipment. Individuals understand the mechanics, including both electrical and maintenance of hydraulics, of all wind turbine components. This position replaces mechanical and electrical components, understands schematics and uses appropriate diagnostic tools. The successful candidate will interpret fault reports, maintain power generation reports, service logs in the computer database, and monitor turbine performance and SCADA systems.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Under direct supervision:
- Performs regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment
- Completes electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting
- Maintains all company supplied equipment, facilities and tooling
- Applies basic understanding of the technical and process functions
- Manages own training schedules and meets all training requirements within designated time frames
- Able to meet attendance requirements
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Grad / GED
- Experience: 0+ years
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
- Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet
- Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree
The estimated base pay for this position is $51,200.00 to $76,800.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
