Senior Design Evaluation, Validation Engineer, Analog Power

Brief Job Description:

The Design Evaluation Engineer will work on highly integrated, high-performance, low-noise monolithic Power products from IC development through production release.

The selected candidate will thrive in a challenging and fast-paced environment, working as part of a global Power Design Evaluation team with members primarily in the USA and Asia. This role is expected to deliver a high level of technical contribution to Power IC development with a focus on Power IC Design Evaluation, Test Hardware and Software Development, and Automated Testing.

This role is on-site at Analog Devices Research Triangle Park in Durham, North Carolina, USA.

The nature of this role, while technically and functionally challenging, can be highly rewarding in both professional and personal development for the selected candidate. Furthermore, this position offers a great opportunity to work on IC development for broad power applications serving customers in multiple end markets.

Key responsibilities are:

• Perform physical silicon device evaluation, characterization, and debugging.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify, simulate, and correct device function and parametric problems.
• Develop evaluation methodology and measurement plans.
• Design hardware and software solutions to support new product design evaluation.
• Work with design and test engineers to validate and correlate design bench reference data to ATE data.
• Document evaluation results according to Design Evaluation documentation requirements.

Qualifications:

• Solid background in electronics, Analog, and Digital circuit analysis,
• Knowledge of Power Electronics (Boost, Buck, LDO, PMIC, etc.)
• Hands-on Experience using lab equipment such as multi-meters, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, SMUs, Electronic Loads, Network Analyzers, etc
• Experience Automating lab bench is a plus. Automating bench set-ups consisting of lab instruments using: Python, PyVisa, SCPI, LabVIEW…
• Familiarity with High-level programming language: Python is preferred; familiarity with LabView or C/C++ is acceptable.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, PMBus, etc.
• Experience in Hardware development for new products; PCB schematic entry and layout, preferably using Cadence Tools.

Minimum Educational and Experience:

• Graduate BS in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or any related field. MS graduate or with units is an advantage.
• At least 5 years of working experience in a semiconductor test and measurement engineering environment. Should have extensive experience in creating and debugging bench test hardware and software.
