Salary range $25.24-$30/hr.   Responsibilities and Functions  
  • Assist surgeons with appointments and consults  
  • Collaborate with the specialists on surgical cases  
  • Oversee and carry out induction, prep, monitoring, and recovery of assigned surgical patients  
  • Have thorough knowledge of radiographic positioning and technique  
  • Obtain pre and post-operative diagnostics  
  • Perform pre and post-operative treatments as indicated by the doctors  
  • Monitor and assist with various ASA-level patients  
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment  
  • Assist with training of new staff and assist other departments, as needed  
  • Have the ability to adjust to changes in the environment and handle stress calmly  
  • Be a team player, have patience, and maintain a positive attitude.   
  • Be detail-oriented to meet the high level of quality medicine.   
  • Prepare a and present estimates 
  • Calculate medication doses 
  • Administer IV, IM, SQ, and oral medications 
  • Complete proficiency in IV catheter placement and maintenance 
  • Complete proficiency in endotracheal tube placement on dogs and cats 
  • Keep accurate records including anesthetic observations and treatments 
  • Safe handling/restraint of animals 
  • IV fluid/blood product administration, monitoring, and maintenance  
  • Able to set up and maintain an anesthesia machine and to properly perform leak check or trouble shoot anesthetic problems. 
  • Prep patient for surgery 
  • Safe and proper handling of therapeutic agents, surgical instruments. 
  • SQ, IM,IV injections and oral/topical medication administration. 
   Experience Requirements 
  • 1-3 years RVT experience in a veterinary surgical setting  
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, the ability to solve problems and handle multiple tasks 
  • Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the environment and able to handle stress in a calm manner 
  • Must be a team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude.  
  • Must be detail oriented due to the high level of quality medicine.  
  • Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day
