Responsibilities
SafeGuard Services (SGS), a subsidiary of Peraton, performs data analysis, investigation, and medical review to detect, prevent, deter, reduce, and make referrals to recover fraud, waste, and abuse.
We are looking to add a Data Project Coordinator to our SGS team of talented professionals.
What you'll do:
The Data Project Coordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting the Medicaid Managed Care audit initiative by bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. This position requires a unique blend of project management expertise, data strategy development, and technical knowledge of methodologies and algorithms to ensure audit-related data is validated, reliable, and actionable.
Working with a variety of stakeholders—including CMS, State Medicaid agencies, Managed Care Plans (MCP), as well as internal teams (data analytics, audit, and senior leadership)—this role ensures that audit data is effective via the following:
- Validated for quality, integrity, and completeness
- Compiled and integrated from multiple sources
- Normalized and standardized across diverse data sets
- Aggregated for multi-level analysis
- Synthesized into structured outputs
- Analyzed using appropriate methodologies and algorithms
These efforts will directly support auditors by providing work products that align with audit scope and protocols, enabling more accurate and efficient assessments.
- Develop and implement a data strategy that aligns with MCP audit objectives.
- Define and document MCP data requirements to ensure consistency and comparability across submissions.
- Identify, recommend, and help develop methodologies and algorithms to enhance data validation, aggregation, and analysis.
- Oversee the application of analytical techniques to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks.
- Act as the primary liaison between CMS, States, MCPs, and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment of priorities.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards.
- Monitor and report progress to senior management and stakeholders.
- Data Management & Aggregation
- Knowledge of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses/lakes, and integration tools.
- Analytics & Methodologies
- Ability to evaluate methodologies and recommend appropriate algorithms for business problems.
- Project Management
- Strong background in requirements gathering, risk management, and resource planning.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to align data initiatives with organizational goals.
- Excellent communication skills for bridging technical and non-technical teams.
- Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and 5 years experience; Masters degree and 3 years experience
- Project management experience
- At least 2 years in data, analytics, or IT projects
- Previous experience working with data science, data engineering, or Business Intelligence (BI) teams.
- Experience managing data-centric or analytics-driven projects.
- Skilled in Agile, Scrum, or hybrid methodologies.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, and APIs.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to translate complex methodologies into actionable business insights.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent planning, organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively and deliver presentations to all levels of management and associates across the Company, as well as to external stakeholders (i.e., CMS, States, and Managed Care Plans).
- Translate complex data methodologies into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration between business teams and technical experts.
- Manage project scope, milestones, risks, and deliverables to ensure timely completion of data initiatives
- Understanding of statistical models, data mining, and machine learning algorithms (clustering, regression, classification)
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
- Telework is available in the continuous United States
- US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare, finance, or another data-heavy industry is a plus. <
