The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.
As an Embedded Software Engineer III, you will lead the development and implementation of bare metal C code for a novel electromechanical actuator. This involves utilizing multiple parallel RISC-V soft-core processors on a single FPGA. In a fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers including those from Guidance, Navigation and Control, software, electrical and power systems, systems engineering, C&DH, configuration & data management, and Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) disciplines. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, from defining and maintaining requirements to creating an automated testing suite, managing compiler tools, and ensuring seamless integration of software and hardware.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement bare metal C code for a complex electro-mechanical system using multiple RISC-V processors on a single FPGA.
- Utilize expertise in C programming, low-level hardware interfacing, and parallel processing to write hard real-time applications following foreground-background architecture principles.
- Manage the entire software development process, including defining and maintaining requirements, creating an automated testing suite, and setting up compiler tools.
- Ensure the code meets stringent safety and reliability standards for a multi-core, bare-metal application controlling an actuation device.
- Interface effectively with cross-functional teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. degree in computer, aerospace, or electrical engineering or related field
- 4+ years of embedded software development and testing experience including multi-threaded programming and real-time systems, particularly in C/C++
- Effective communication skills with program and executive leadership.
- Proven experience developing software to meet requirements
- Familiarity with DevOps processes and culture
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Compensation Range for:
CO applicants is $135,679.00-$189,950.25Other site ranges may differ
