Provides clinical oversight in the absence of the Assistant Medical Director and serves as collaborating physician for the Family Nurse Practitioner. Provides family medical care services which include: preventive activities such as screenings, comprehensive health assessments, diagnosis and treatment of minor, acute and chronic medical conditions. 

 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provides primary health care to clinical patients. 
  • Provides clinical oversight in the of the Assistant Medical Director.
  • Works with the other members of the medical team to promote and maintain a high quality of medical care for the patients of the main health center.
  • Provides high quality comprehensive pediatric care through interview and examination of patients; formulates diagnosis and institutes treatment based on objective data gathered.
  • Offers counseling and makes referrals as indicated (i.e. specialty clinics).
  • Works with other medical providers to implement procedures and evaluate ongoing medical services.
  • Will be available for teaching, review of records and auditing as specified by the audit committee and protocols.
  • Keeps patient and doctor's relationship confidential
  • Serves as Collaborating Physician for the Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Provides coverage to other medical areas, as needed.
  • Participates in team conference, medical staff meetings or any other meeting as set up by the department. Performs all procedures and duties applicable to private practice in an office setting.
  • Practices quality medicine as outlined in the Quality Assurance Protocol of the Health Center and abides by departmental policy. 
  • Abides by the Oath of Hippocrates in rendering health care to the community. Maintains good moral conduct and professional ethics.
  • Participates in on-call roster.


Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current license to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Current biannual registration certificate to practice medicine in NY State.
  • Completion of accredited training in an institution approved for post-graduate training.
  • Board certified or Board eligible either in primary care or in pediatrics.
