Junior Corporate Counsel

Job Description

The Legal Team is growing!  Looking for a Junior Corporate Counsel candidate to join us. This position will assist and work directly with the Corporate Counsel on all legal topics for Sixt.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Contract Review and Negotiation: Prepare and review a variety of legal documents, including but not limited to, lease agreements, asset-purchase agreements, corporate sales agreements, advertising agreement, and general vendor agreements such as MSA’s and NDA’s.
•  Evaluate potential agreements for compliance with applicable laws and provide legal risk analysis.
• Negotiate and interact with opposing counsel, service providers, and various other vendors outside of the company.
• Legal Compliance and Risk Management: Review business practices for compliance issues and respond to government inquires. 
• Advise and counsel individual departments within Sixt and its members to anticipate, identify, and manage liability areas and legal exposure.
• Will support with internal and external investigations and complaint handling processes
• Research and Due Diligence: Conduct legal research and legal due diligence (including on new ventures) and provide legal guidance to upper management and Legal Team. General research including:
• Research into issues with potential new products proposed by the product team 
• Yearly review of specific rental car statutes and other consumer-protection statutes and regulations 
• Research on new and prevalent data privacy and security regulations and issues 

General Duties: 

• Assist Senior Corporate counsel on various legal topics
• Effectively and efficiently liaison with outside counsel on select litigation matters
• Assist with discovery responses, subpoena requests, litigation hold notices, report creation, and document collection. 
• Summarize legal issues and research clearly and effectively using layman’s terms for different teams and stakeholders throughout the organization 

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required
• Member of a State Bar required
• 0-2 years of legal experience 
• Previous experience working in an in-house environment is a plus
• Must have basic computer skills and have proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
• Strong written and oral communication, analytical, and organizational skills
• Must have sound and practical business judgment, ability to think strategically
• Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to new and changing demands and challenges in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrate ability to self-motivate, prioritize and multi-task for various projects under very tight deadlines
• Exceptional interpersonal skills required
• Must have the ability to manage stressful or unusual situations
• Must collaborate and work effectively with other legal team members and company stakeholders in cross-functional teams
• Process and detail-oriented
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
• Proficiency in English, and the ability to communicate in other languages (German, Spanish, etc.) is a plus.
