Analyst II General Accounting-IA (Hybrid)

We are seeking a Financial Analyst II to join our Investment Accounting team. The individual selected for the role will be responsible for Mortgage Loan Accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

• Complete various GAAP, STAT & Dai-ichi Reporting requirements
• Ensure the data integrity of inputs into Strategy (Protective’s Mortgage Loan Accounting system)
• Execute various month end close processes (reconciliations, senior management reporting, GL review)
• Perform key Mortgage Loan Accounting functions/reporting as they may change from month to month and/or quarter to quarter
• Apply problem-solving skills to understand and resolve issues in coordination with both internal and external data providers
• Assist with the development, management, and maintenance of Investment related data used for internal and external reporting
• Perform Strategy upgrade testing and special projects as needed
• Function as a key team member on various Mortgage Loan Accounting projects
• Create and maintain process documentation and work instructions for job functions
• Complete various Ad-hoc requests/projects
• Assist other department members in the event of absence or in order to balance workload to meet deadlines

Qualificatons/Education

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting from an accredited university
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• CPA designation is a plus
• Previous experience with Mortgage Loans is a plus
• Exposure to GAAP and Statutory Accounting is a plus
• Proficient in EXCEL
• Technically proficient with systems.  Must understand systems and processes in order to follow procedure and information flows.
• Must be someone that is curious and has a desire to be continuously learning
• Strong organization and time management skills to accomplish all tasks in established deadlines
• Solid analytical skills, high level of accuracy, excellent attention to detail and willingness to be hands on
• Ability to take ownership, develop and complete complex multifaceted projects
• Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team taking on new responsibilities with a high level of difficulty
• Ability to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of work product
• Ability to work closely with all Investment Accounting managers and teams (Securities, Derivatives, Mortgage Loans and Systems) – prior experience a plus

Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $65,000 to $77,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance] OR [through cash compensation as part of a sales incentive plan (SIP).
