Investment Management - InvestmentsEmployee Benefits Investments (EBI) is responsible for over $20 billion in assets in retirement assets in Prudential’s pension, 401(k) Plan and other portfolios. The company’s pension plan is invested in a broad array of diversified investments including domestic and international bonds, real estate, hedge funds, global private equity, and domestic and international public equity. The 401(k) Plan provides similarly diversified investment options selected and monitored by EBI.
EBI’s mission is to select the best investment vehicles and structures on behalf of Prudential’s retirement plan participants. It is a forward-thinking team that takes seriously its mandate to invest prudently and in a diversified manner to serve the Company’s Plans participants.
Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, Employee Benefits Plans, the Investment Analyst will assist in the management of all employee benefit plans, including Prudential’s pension, 401(k) Plan Merged Retirement Plan (PESP), and the Welfare Benefits Plan/401(h) account.
The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Candidates will be expected to follow a hybrid work arrangement with on-site expectations (Newark, NJ office) of 2 - 3 days a week.
What you'll do:
- Review managers’ documentation, including but not limited to, offering memorandums, financial statements, regulatory filings, marketing materials, due diligence questionnaires, valuation policies and compliance policies and procedures, and document findings.
- Research asset manager strategies and performance across fixed income, public equity, private equity, public & private credit, real estate, and hedge funds.
- Conduct regular reviews, calls, and visits with investment managers.
- Assist with creation of materials including memos and presentations to be presented to the Investment Oversight Committee for approval.
- Support reporting and presentation materials for delivery to the Investment Committee of the Board of Directors on the performance of the Plans.
- Support investment vice presidents on the development of quantitative risk analyses of the Plans and on asset strategy to fund all anticipated liability streams (pension, welfare).
- Serve on Advisory Boards as needed to gain insights and proactively address potential issues.
- Attend industry conferences to gather performance information and conduct research.
- Day to day funding authorizations and other administrative tasks in conjunction with support staff.
- Assist investment vice presidents and CIO in Department of Labor and other regulatory compliance issues.
- Review and assess the operations, internal controls and platform-specific risks of traditional and alternative investment managers.
What you'll need:
- 3+ years investment (asset, portfolio, and/or risk) management experience or financial services experience; preferably a minimum of two years conducting due diligence for a variety of alternative and/or traditional.
- Investment manager risk management or due diligence experience.
- Experience working with actuaries and/or counsel.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, accounting, mathematics or engineering.
- CFA designation a plus.
- Advanced excel skills; coding knowledge preferred.
- Be both process- and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines; unwavering ethical compass.
- Ability to travel, including international, will be required but no more than 25% excluding regional day trips such as NYC.
