Position Summary
The Senior Database Administrator will coordinate and perform the duties for implementation, maintenance, monitoring, performance analysis, trouble shooting, problem resolution, and user assistance required of the UI Health database environments. This position is expected to establish and provide oversight for various databases to ensure optimum performance, reliability, recoverability, and stability across Production, Test, and QA environments.  Senior Database Administrators are directly responsible for providing database availability within UI Health defined performance goals.

Responsible for administering and supporting database platforms across development, test, training, and production environments. Demonstrates strong knowledge of database architecture, data management, and Microsoft technologies, with extensive experience supporting Windows Server–based enterprise systems. Specific responsibilities include administering Microsoft SQL Server environments (2012/2014/2016/2019/2022 and Azure SQL), implementing and maintaining High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, replication, backup and recovery, performance tuning, security management, and database monitoring. Experience supporting data integration, ETL processes, and interoperability with Microsoft technologies including Azure, Active Directory, PowerShell, Datadog, and Microsoft data platforms to ensure reliable and secure business operations.

This person will work with a cross-section of internal IT personnel, vendors and the management team to coordinate delivery of database functions. This individual will also participate in on-call support functions as well as disaster recovery execution as applicable.

  • Monitor database environments for continual availability, high performance, and security.
  • Lead in the design, development and implementation of infrastructure for database high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Identify process improvements, automate deployment tasks, and promote innovative solutions to common business tasks.
  • Develop custom scripts to automate various database management processes.
  • Assist in defining and enforcing database standards, best practices, methodologies, processes and procedures.
  • Design and develop reports and handle ad-hoc data requests.
  • Install, configure, and integrate third party applications and tools as needed.
  • Manage problems and problem escalations in accordance with ITIL standards.
  • Develop and manage projects and project plans.
  • Manages license and hardware life cycle with technology refresh schedule.
