Job Description: Hinds Community College is seeking a qualified and motivated Secondary Welding Instructor to join our Career and Technical Education team. The instructor will deliver high-quality instruction in welding processes and techniques to high school students enrolled in dual credit/dual enrollment courses, preparing them for successful careers and industry certification in welding and fabrication.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

  • Associate degree or higher in Welding Technology or a closely related field, OR

  • Industry certifications.

  • A minimum of 3 years of recent welding experience in the field.

  • Ability to obtain or hold a valid Mississippi Educator License with a CTE endorsement in Welding.

  • NCCER certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching or training experience in welding or industrial technology.

  • OSHA 10/30 certification.

  • Experience working with high school-aged students in a career pathway or dual enrollment setting.

  • Strong interpersonal and classroom management skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Manage high school students and maintain a professional environment.

  • Teaches high school students the occupational competencies necessary for employment.
  • Keep prompt, up-to-date, accurate records of attendance, grades, and other reports.
  • Prepares course competency-based outlines for each instructional course or program.
  • Prepares detailed lesson plans, job sheets, and laboratory experiments for all units of instruction.
  • Recommends changes in the total curriculum in order to maintain and up-to-date program.
  • Develops and maintains the progress of each student in the program.
  • Teaches related subject matter.
  • Develops a schedule of courses for each semester.
  • Reviews and selects instructional materials such as textbooks and audio visual materials.
  • Completes requests for supplies and other instructional materials on a timely basis.
