Key Role Details

• Full-time new hires for this role will start as a cohort in a rotational program in August 2025. 

• This role is a full-time associate position within an 18-month rotational program, designed as a career accelerator to foster the next generation of leading talent.

• Participation in the program requires that you are located in the continental United States with in-person attendance at your assigned location, in accordance with Capital One’s hybrid working model.

Basic Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s degree or higher with an expectation that you will complete your most recent full-time degree program by August 2025 or earlier

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or higher in a technical and/or quantitative discipline, including computer science, computer engineering, cyber security, information assurance, information systems, information technology, or mathematics

• Desire to pursue a career in cybersecurity

• Understanding of cyber security concepts such as: operating systems analysis (MS Windows/MacOS) and network forensics (Kali Linux)

• Knowledge of the basics of network security and protocols (e.g., encryption, firewalls, authentication, honey pots, perimeter protection) 

• Coursework in IT fundamentals, cloud security, cryptography, network security, and/or database security

• Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving and conceptual skills

• Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills

• Working level programming skills or experience in one or more of the following areas: Java, Python, C#, C/C++, JSON, Visual Basic, SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripts

As a Cyber Security Associate within our Cyber Security Development Program, you’ll work on assessing, challenging and advising on infrastructure, network, platform, and software security services in the cloud. You may work in the front-lines in defending networks to analyze any security risk, install firewalls and encryptions, as well as monitor systems for any breach. You might work to perform tests on networks, probe their security, and come up with ways to defend the system against any vulnerabilities. Or you might be working to manage and maintain the upkeep of a computer network within Capital One. Our Cyber associates will collaborate closely with associates in Cyber, Technology, the lines of business, and risk management offices.
