Job Description:

We approach problems with creativity and innovation. The Richmond, VA office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Senior Scientist to join our growing practice.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage detailed and technically advanced environmental investigations
- Manage activities of other field personnel
- QA/QC boring logs and material classifications
- Assign, perform, and review laboratory tests
- Perform calculations to support designs
- Provide support on preparation of reports and proposals
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) of hazardous materials assessments
Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, Geology, or related Science
- 5 or more years of professional experience (8 years preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement
- Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last a few weeks away from the office
- Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, enter trenches, climb ladders and work outside
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Prior professional work in a related field
- Master’s Degree in related field preferred
- Industrial hygiene experience preferred
- Professional Licensure preferred
Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
