Job Description
Position Overview:
The Director of Athletics & Physical Education at KIPP Kansas City will oversee the development and execution of regional athletics initiatives, ensuring alignment with our educational objectives and promoting student engagement, health, and well-being. This role requires a strategic leader who can collaborate effectively with school leaders, regional staff, and the community to enhance our athletics programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Strategy
Develop and implement a comprehensive regional athletics strategy that supports student development and aligns with KIPP Kansas City’s mission and values.
Ensure all athletic programs comply with state, regional, and national regulations and standards.
Evaluate program effectiveness and make data-informed decisions to improve student outcomes and program quality.
Management and Collaboration
Co-lead a team of coaches and athletics staff, setting clear expectations, providing professional development, and ensuring high-quality program delivery.
Collaborate with school leaders and regional teams to integrate athletics effectively into the broader educational experience.
Build partnerships with local organizations, sports teams, and community groups to enhance program offerings and resources.
Operations and Budget Management
Oversee the athletic department’s budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and expenditures are managed within budgetary guidelines.
Manage logistics for all athletics-related activities, including scheduling, transportation, and facility usage.
Ensure proper maintenance and safety of all athletic facilities and equipment.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to athletics, representing KIPP Kansas City in various forums and maintaining open lines of communication with students, families, and the community.
Promote athletics programs to increase participation and engagement among students and the community.
Report regularly to regional leaders and stakeholders on program status, challenges, and achievements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Sports Management, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in athletic administration, preferably in an educational setting.
Proven track record of managing successful athletic programs and teams.
