Statutory Senior Financial Reporting Accountant

Summary

Prosperity is seeking a highly motivated Senior Financial Reporting Accountant. This is a position in the Finance department of Prosperity, a multibillion-dollar privately owned life insurance company. This position would aid the Statutory Financial Reporting Leader with the preparation and filings for state insurance regulators and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) across all legal entities, as well as assist with recording journal entries, various reconciliations, and quarterly and annual statutory filings and financial statements.

Major Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Understand and record various journal entries and perform various reconciliations
• Prepare and file quarterly and annual statutory financial statements in compliance with the NAIC and SSAPs and state filing regulations
• Prepare the monthly balance sheet and income statement, monthly and quarterly analytics as requested for U.S. statutory reporting
• Maintain organized documentation to support filings and compliance requirements
• Document and enhance operating procedures and policies, including updating SOX documentation and understanding SOX controls
• Provide administrative and research support to senior management
• Maintain a continuous improvement culture by looking for ways to eliminate manual processes and enhance processes and developing recommendations for improvement
• Collaborate with actuarial, treasury, tax, and other departments to ensure accurate and complete reporting
• Assist with regulatory examinations, audits, and internal/external reporting requests

Education and/or Experience and Skills

• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and deadline adherence
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 4-7 years’ accounting or finance experience
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Insurance statutory regulatory experience
• General insurance or financial services experience preferred General knowledge of NAIC Instructions
