Control Risks is looking for a Business Continuity Specialist to support a rapidly growing FinTech client for a 6-month engagement. This position will work closely with the business resiliency team to help implement a world-class business continuity program. Specifically, this role will develop, maintain, or implement resiliency solutions, including, business impact analysis, plans, and documentation of procedures. It will also support the development and execution of walk-through table-top exercises. With guidance from management, this role will partner with stakeholders to ensure an effective enterprise business resilience governance framework is developed, maintained and adhered to across the enterprise.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist critical business functions to identify opportunities for strategic improvement or mitigation of interruptions and other risks caused by business, regulatory, or industry-specific change initiatives.
- Participate in refresh scoping meetings with BC Coordinators to confirm business processes, plan scope, and dependencies.
- Potentially participate in operational resilience workshops to capture Product and Service BIAs, map dependencies and tie to business processes.
- Review existing disaster recovery, crisis management, or business continuity plans and oversee contingency plan integration and operation. Follow up on action items, as directed.
- Support the development of earthquake readiness and response planning with pertinent stakeholders and in partnership with BC Leads.
- Assist in refreshing and auditing Partner Escalation Policies to ensure they are updated w/in the last 6 months and newly onboarded vendors that meet criticality have policies in place.
- Support the planning and execution of DR exercises and/or plan walkthroughs for top 10 critical systems (Q2 and Q3).
- Maintain the company emergency notification system (Everbridge), and ensure appropriate communication is available during a disaster.
- Support the team to develop and participate in presentations of relevant BC information and planning to stakeholders of all levels.
- Assist in developing and conducting BC trainings and exercises.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of program processes and practices to help the enterprise program remain current and aligned with industry standards and practices as appropriate.
- Assist with the management of reporting capabilities to track and measure potential scenarios and outcomes.
- As needed, support vendor due diligence for BC/DR in partnership with TPRM.
- Participate in gathering artifacts for BC/DR related to SOC2 audit.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of relevant business continuity experience.
- Experience with global business continuity standards (e.g., ISO22301) and frameworks, ideally in the banking or financial services industry.
- Experience collating business impact analysis data and delivering business impact analyses.
- Familiarity with BCM frameworks, business continuity best practices and protocols, and operational risk management.
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or ability to quickly become an expert user of best-in-class business continuity and crisis management tools (CL Digital, Everbridge, and Looker, specifically).
- Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, Attlasian products (Jira and Confluence).
- Ability to work well in cross-organizational and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking skills, effective interpersonal skills, demonstrated formal presentation and facilitation abilities, and strong project management experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively and adapt quickly.
- Distinctive problem-solving and analytical skills combined with strong business acumen and technical ability.
- Ability to be flexible and work effectively with ambiguity and change. Exposure to related fields of crisis management, emergency response or risk management.
The base salary range for this position in California or NYC is $38,000-42,500 for the 6-month contract. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided per California SB 1162 and the NYC Wage Transparency Law.
