If you are looking to play a part in making a positive impact in the world by advancing the revolutionary work of self-driving cars, join us.

About the AV Product group:

Our group leads product strategy for Cruise's core technology - the software that runs on Cruise's vehicles enabling them to drive autonomously and safely. We chart the course toward launching and scaling our AVs globally, and are responsible for leading the company to fulfill this mission by partnering closely with engineering, data science, program, operations and commercial teams. Do you want to work with products that change the world for the better? Our team is at the core of making self-driving cars a reality!

About the Role:

As a Staff Technical Product Manager, AV Acceleration Tools in the AV Product group, you will be responsible for owning the strategy, product vision, roadmap and outcomes for one or more of the internal tools used by thousands of AV engineers. These internal AV Acceleration tools are critical to the success of Cruise’s expansion goals, and help speed up AV development, while ensuring safety, reducing time to market and cost. You will focus on solving problems globally, optimizing across various areas (like AI, Robotics, Safety and Systems, Test tooling) within Cruise's AV software stack to enable autonomous driving capabilities on the road across multiple vehicle platforms.

Cruise launched the first driverless ride-hail service to San Francisco in Q1 2022, and we’re looking at expanding the service and offerings to new markets, on new vehicle platforms. You will be helping us get there: defining key pieces of our AV development and testing strategy to expand to these markets, and set the groundwork for scaling by increasing the efficiency of technical solutions in our current SF and Phoenix markets.

You will serve as a leader within the AV product team, evolving our innovation practice as we go to market. Collaborating broadly across engineering departments, you'll apply cutting-edge technology to increase the AV driving safety and quality across geo-spatial domains and scene contexts.

What you'll be doing:

  • Define the vision, strategy and roadmap for your product areas; applying extensive knowledge in complex technical products to set direction in a research setting with significant experimentation.

  • Communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments, and decisions clearly across a wide spectrum of audiences from internal customers to executives.

  • Synthesize technical and analytical insights into PRDs and requirements that provide partners with a clear understanding of what to do and why.

  • Lead executives and key partners through sophisticated decisions to drive progress toward our strategic goals.

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Program management, Data Science, Commercial operations, Systems Engineering and Consumer Product to define goals and the roadmap needed to reach them.

  • Identify and lead improvements to the team's innovation and approach enabling us to scale our team and impact.

  • Exemplify outstanding product development and management practices in everything you touch.

What you have:

  • 6+ years of product management experience delivering highly impactful and innovative products at scale

  • Proven success leading highly technical (robotics, machine learning or computer vision) products

  • Experience formulating and driving a principled product vision, and being responsible for the narrative with leadership and key team members

  • Experience leading product development from zero to first release and beyond

  • Ability to generate crucial product insights through quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • In-depth knowledge of modern software development and machine learning engineering practices

  • Outstanding communication skills: verbal and written, with engineers, non-technical partners, and executives

  • Thrive in ambiguity, crafting simplicity and order

  • Creativity and curiosity: you're driven to find novel solutions and push forward an entire industry
