The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with physical, developmental, intellectual, mental health challenges; those who have suffered a trauma; and those at risk, to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. We are looking for a Registered Nurse (Full-time) who demonstrates this mission and wants to work for an organization that makes a difference in the community.
What you will be doing?
- The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing service, to meet the identified health care needs of a designated population of clients.
- Responsibilities include assessing the health needs of clients, planning for the provision of needed health services, implementing a plan of care, and evaluating outcomes and ongoing health needs in collaboration with the client and other members of the health care team, as needed.
- The Registered Nurse works within the framework of AID’s goals, policies, and procedures to assure that accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, pertaining to health care, are met in all programs.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Completes quality compliance audits, on at least a monthly basis, within assigned programs to assess program compliance with Rule 116 (Medication Regulations). This includes, but not limited to, MAR review and audits; cycle medication review(s); completion of Medication Change Form(s); and documentation/charting of all medical related issues including medications.
- Reviews and signs client health assessments prior to providing on the job medication training.
- Completes timely assessment(s) of client’s health, using various screening tools. (i.e., TD screening, Self-Administration of Medication Assessment, HRST, Mental Status Exam, etc.), according to program requirements.
- Appropriately triages and records phone calls regarding client medication and health issues during weekend on call responsibility.
- Effectively manages medication check in and medication updates on Quick MAR.
- Conducts a monthly audit of the availability of PRN medications within assigned programs, and takes corrective action, as needed, if supply is low.
- Collaborates with Program Director and Q to assure medications are appropriately stored in assigned programs.
- Completes and/or reviews medication error reports on a timely basis.
- Collaborates with Program Director and Q, as needed, to assure refill authorizations are followed up on in a timely manner.
- Approves temporary purchase of medications through pharmacy, for meds not covered by insurance, pending prior insurance authorization, as needed.
- Provides medication administration, monitoring, and training for clients, as needed.
Planning Skills:
- Collaborates with QIDP, Program Director, and Director of Health Services to plan necessary corrective actions related to program compliance with Rule 116 (Medication Regulations).
- Participates in service planning meetings for clients, as needed.
- Participates in staff meetings, providing input and ideas for improvements.
- Conducts ongoing staff training on compliance requirements with Rule 116 within assigned programs.
- Implements timely corrective actions, and/or staff re-training, as needed, as a follow up to medication errors.
- Collaborates with the agency contracted psychiatrists, Medical Director, and/or other physicians, as needed.
- Accurately implements physician orders and/or facilitates the implementation of physician orders.
- Participates in health-related training for staff, as needed.
- Completes required nursing documentation, per agency and program requirements.
- Assures the nursing department’s compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, within designated program.
- Maintains client files according to AID procedures.
- Provides consultation on community health resources, as needed, to address client health needs.
