Paralegal I (Contracts)

About the role

Responsibilities

 

·         Provide paralegal support and assist the Legal Operations Department with contract administration for the 1199SEIU Funds

·         Accurately log contracts and documents for review into the contract management system as needed

·         Timely review requests for and accurately draft various contracts using the Funds’ approved templates and review and analyze revisions requested to the Funds’ template agreements

·         Review and revise vendor contracts as assigned to ensure terms comply with Funds’ policies, procedures and contracting requirements

·         Communicate with internal business owners regarding contracts and grants and accurately advise on contract terms and conditions, conduct follow-ups as necessary through to full execution

·         Conduct legal web-based research and provide up-to-date information as needed

·         Prepare monthly and annual metrics on a timely basis and generate ad-hoc reporting as needed   

·         Serve as primary contact and liaison between Legal Operations and the Fund’s Material Management Office and Internal Compliance departments and timely respond to inquiries for executed contracts

·         Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management


Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree required, Paralegal Certificate or equivalent education preferred

·         Minimum one (1) year contract review experience required; knowledge of grants, ERISA, and legal terminology preferred

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word and Excel

·         Knowledge of Web-Based Applications/Software.

·         Experience in the use of a contract management system a plus

·         Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, vendors, and other professionals  

·         Ability to handle privileged, confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate and professional manner

·         Excellent organizational skills, record keeping, attention to detail, and time management skills

·         Proactive, organized, and have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

·         Excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information and issue spot

·         Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
