Description
We are looking for a high caliber finance lead for Verily’s insure-tech subsidiary, Granular. You will be able to influence key stakeholders across the business, including the executive team, to make sound strategic and operational decisions in a fast paced environment. Your work will include modeling business scenarios and capital planning, preparing and reporting on company-wide performance metrics, and modeling our annual projections which will be used by the leadership team to grow the business at a rapid rate in a fast paced environment.

You are a master at juggling multiple initiatives at a time with focus on the details while finding creative ways to tackle big picture challenges.
Responsibilities
- Manage analytics, business planning and reporting for the Granular Insurance & Verily teams, including headcount, revenue and expense planning/budgeting, analysis of actual to expected performance, cost evaluations/options, including possible vendor analysis utilization/cost evaluations.
- Capital planning and modeling to meet regulatory and rating agency target capital levels.
- Treasury management of surplus funds, balancing returns with liquidity planning under Granular’s investment policy including justification for large spending requests to senior management and the Granular and Verily Boards.
- Partner with the underwriting and operations product teams and other groups within the Granular team finance to support monthly, quarterly and annual financial planning cycles; drive visibility into business performance and enable resource planning decisions.
- Evaluate, structure, execute and support key partnership agreements, including large capex purchases and technology development projects collaborations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Business or Finance.
- 6+ years relevant work experience in finance, management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking or similar role.
- Understanding of both GAAP and STAT accounting.
- Relevant experience in insurance or insurance services preferred but not required.
- Understanding and knowledge of accounting processes and terminology.
- Proven Microsoft Excel skills, and other database, automation or business intelligence skills (e.g. SQL, TSL, Hyperion Essbase, Anaplan).
Preferred Qualification:
- Distinctive problem solving and analysis skills, combined with impeccable business judgment, leadership skills and ability to communicate with a executives and senior management teams.
- Proven experience in unstructured environments; comfortable dealing with a high degree of ambiguity and defining the agenda and driving projects to fruition.
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational/analytical skills and the capability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Background in actuarial science relating to claims and data analytics to support increased understanding to claims trends, underwriting results and reserving requirements; ability to work with large data sets and to be able to identify trends and patterns; and experience explaining complex ideas and technical data to different audiences.
- Experience with outside/independent actuaries projecting the necessary reserves.
- Experience working directly with board of directors.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $185,000 - $225,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
