Job Description
ServiceNow is hiring a Director of Strategic Events with a specific focus on managing Knowledge, ServiceNow’s flagship user conference. This person is a seasoned professional with 10+ years of event marketing experience, responsible for owning the strategic direction, budget management, and goal setting for large-scale user conferences.
In this position, you will lead a team of event professionals, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with company objectives and deliver exceptional experiences for attendees. In addition to event management expertise, this role requires experience in developing event strategy, speaker line-ups, production, budget management and contract negotiation.
You will partner closely with other marketing teams to build world-class experiences that drive ideal audience, attendance, and success. We are looking to hire a proven and experienced events leader with big ideas, but we also need someone who likes to roll up their sleeves and dig in on any details necessary to ensure success as we scale and continue to deliver the great experience our audiences have come to expect.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for Knowledge, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
- Define the event’s vision, mission and key themes to enhance attendee engagement and satisfaction
- Continuously evaluate industry trends and best practices to innovate and improve event experiences.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather relevant information and synthesize it into impactful messaging tailored to executive audiences.
- Create alignment across the business and executive teams.
Budget Management:
- Build and manage the event budget, ensuring proper allocation of resources to meet program needs.
- Monitor expenses and revenue streams, identifying areas for cost optimization.
- Provide regular budget updates and reports to stakeholders.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and inspire a team of event marketers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring each team member has clear roles and responsibilities.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback and support professional development opportunities for team members.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Distill complex event information into succinct executive-level communications, facilitating informed decision-making at the highest levels.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including marketing, sales, product and industry marketing, finance, procurement and executive leadership to align event strategies with business objectives.
- Act as primary point of contact for external vendors, nurturing relationships to enhance event success, determine timelines and delivery dates.
- Work closely with our operations and analytics teams to define measures of success and maniacally push for accurate measures of how our events drive and influence pipeline or improved customer usage.
