Senior Associate, Section 508 Document Accessibility

Palladian Partners, an Altarum company based in Silver Spring, MD, provides comprehensive communications support services to some of the biggest names in biomedical and public health – including federal health agencies (e.g., NIH, FDA, CDC) and leading nonprofits. We're looking for an outstanding Senior Associate, Section 508 Document Accessibility to join our team. This is a hybrid role; currently most team members report to Palladian’s office in Silver Spring each Wednesday and to other in-person meetings as required.

Responsibilities

• Remediate a wide range of documents (e.g., PDFs, PowerPoints) so they meet the requirements of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Section 508 Accessibility checklists, relying on industry best practices and tools
• Conduct quality control reviews
• Collaborate with account leadership, team leadership and colleagues to ensure work is conducted efficiently and effectively, and that any complex or technical problems are solved in a timely way, and
• Maintain a high level of productivity so that client, company and team needs and goals are met.

Qualifications

• Some college or military experience required; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
• At least two years of experience performing Section 508/ADA/document accessibility compliance
• Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
• Experience remediating PowerPoint presentations and PDF documents for Section 508 compliance
• Experience with document design and accessibility requirements regarding use of color
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro or DC
• Strong MS Word and PowerPoint skills
• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work quickly and accurately, under deadline pressure
• Strong command of English spelling, punctuation, and grammar
• Innate customer service mentality
• Ability to solve problems quickly and creatively

You’ll earn bonus points if you have

• Familiarity with HHS Section 508 requirements
• Experience using Axes PDF, CommonLook, or PAC 2021 accessibility checkers
• Experience with JAWS or NVDA screen readers
• DHS Trusted Tester certification
• HTML and/or other programming skills
• Editing or proofreading experience
