Description:
We are looking for an occupational therapist assistant that delivers compassionate care to patients, contributes to the multidisciplinary team, and collaborates with families to deliver a plan of care as developed by a licensed Occupational Therapist.
Individual occupational therapy plans differ depending on patients' needs, but all strive to develop, increase, or maintain independence in performing tasks of daily living for our pediatric patients.
COTA Responsibilities:
Treat patients by using therapeutic and self-care activities designed to improve function under the direction of the licensed occupational therapist (OTR).
Monitor a patient's activities to make sure they are performing them correctly and to offer encouragement.
Contribute to meetings and case conferences to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care plans for patients.
Document patient’s weekly progress in appropriate records.
Instruct patients, their families and any other caregivers in skills and techniques of the patient's treatment program, under supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
Demonstrate exercises that can help patients better perform everyday tasks and relieve pain.
Complete all clinical notes in a timely manner using the company’s EMR system.
Verifies client information by interviewing client, reviewing, and recording medical history, confirming purpose of treatment.
Follows treatment plan developed in collaboration with occupational therapist by teaching techniques, such as, the proper method of moving from a bed into a wheelchair, and the best ways to stretch and limber muscles.
Monitors activities to make sure they are performed correctly and provides encouragement, bringing treatment that is not having the intended effect to the attention of the therapist.
Maintains patient occupational therapy records by recording client’s progress for use by the occupational therapist.
Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Serves and protects the occupational therapy practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
This role is a 1099 position, with an ideal workload of about 30 hours/week. We are looking for long-term candidates, as this is not a seasonal role.
Qualifications
Current NV Occupational Therapist Assistant license required.
Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
Current CPR certification
At least one year of experience as a pediatric occupational therapist assistant is preferred.
Willingness to participate in continued education courses.
Compassionate and caring demeanor.
Current State drivers license and auto insurance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Possess good time management skills.
