Production Plant Manager

PRODUCTION PLANT MANAGER

Metals USA is seeking a Production Plant Manager in Langhorne, PA. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented, carbon steel (plate, beam and tube) distribution center servicing the defense, commercial, construction, aerospace and fabrication industries.

The Plant Manager is responsible to manage and develop the front-line supervisors and hourly employees. The Plant Manager will execute production safety, housekeeping, recruitment, orientation and training of all new hires as well as on-going training and development of entire production workforce. The Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring a preventive maintenance program and warehouse functions comply with Metals USA and all regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:

• Initiates and executes production plan and process, clarifies and exceeds production goals. Creates production schedule and workflow duty assignments.
• Interacts with all departments to ensure optimal production and on-time delivery schedule.
• Recruits, hires, orient/trains and retains production front-line supervisors and employees. Leads an ongoing world-class production orientation program.
• Strives continually to improve manpower utilization to align with production process in order to positively impact revenue.
• Supervises the receipt of incoming material shipments, verifying that appropriate receipt and quality control inspections are completed in a timely manner and appropriate transactions are made to complete the receiving process.
• Ensures that materials in the warehouse are stored properly, inspected and processed via accepted material handling and warehousing principles. Supervises and participates in the physical inventory control process.
• Supervises staging of materials to support timely delivery of materials, prepare shipments of items as required and prepare materials for processing to scrap.
• Develops, implements and executes production tracking and quality control systems to analyze production quality control and capacity utilization.
• Ensures that collective bargaining agreement, is effectively administered, and is in compliance with the current collective bargaining agreement language.
• Strives continually to improve workplace safety awareness and achieves an injury-free work environment. Develops and implements a world-class safety culture.
• Maintains individual knowledge/skill and experience as required to ensure optimal production acumen.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a Plant Manager in the warehouse.
• Adheres to, explains and enforces all company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
• Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
• Executes a safe and injury-free environment; ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.
• Adheres to all company, customer and employee confidentiality requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Occupation requires physical activity more than 80% of the time (> 6.5 hours per day)

• Stand, walk, sit, talk , hear, use of hands and fingers, hand-eye coordination reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
• Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions
• Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance

Other Physical Requirements:

Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Steel-toed boots
• Hard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while on elevated surfaces
• Protective eyewear
• Visual Acuity requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Hand protection
• Arm guards/sleeves
• Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program
