Position Summary

The General Winery Worker position tends to the day-to-day operation of Cellar Processes. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. 

Responsibilities

• Under moderate supervision perform basic cellar operations including but not limited to:

  • Clean, sanitize and sterilize equipment

  • Apply good housekeeping practices

  • Perform wine movements, barrel toppings and additions

  • Operate basic cellar equipment

  • Carry out the sluicing process

  • Measure and calculate workplace data

  • Perform confined space entry in wine tanks to install or remove oak   

• Provide feedback to Winemaking, Cellar, and Barrel staff.

• Understand and be an active participant in the 5S program. (Sort, set in order, Standardize, Sweep, Sustain). 

• Responsible for compliance with CBI sustainability policies and practices which are economically viable, socially acceptable, and environmentally sound.  This is done by supporting programs at each location for conservation, energy efficiency, and recycling, which are critical for our operations to achieve tangible environmental results. 

• Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member’s safety. 

• Operate the red fermenter pump over system.

• Carry out bulk wine shipping and receiving operations.

• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/ GED 

• Winery experience preferred

• Must be able to skillfully operate all basic Cellar equipment 

• Must be able to accommodate shift rotation

• Must be able to work overtime as needed 

• Must be able to operate machinery 

• Must know how to use hand tools 

• Must possess basic math skills 

• Must be able to use meters 

• Must be a team player

• Must have great communication skills

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Work Environment:

• Works outdoors/indoors

• Works in warm/cold climates

• Works in high places

• Works on wet surfaces

• Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals

• Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic

• Works with sanitation chemicals and tank washing equipment

• Must be able to move up to 55 lbs

• Primary office environment may be warehouse/distribution setting

• Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The salary range for this role is:

$17.42 - $25.06

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location
