The Advanced Structures (AS) Enterprise Operations Leader directs a centralized team of subject matter experts across Manufacturing Engineering (ME), Industrial Engineering (IE), Robotics/Automation, Maintenance, and Operations Product Management (OPM).

This role drives the strategic direction of operations excellence for the broader Advanced Structures organization by developing and deploying standardized processes, tools, governance frameworks, and improvement initiatives. The leader also provides technical guidance and targeted onsite project or recovery support to AS businesses and manufacturing sites.

This role will drive consistency within the OPM function in support of end-to-end coordination of operational execution, integration across functions, and providing execution-based inputs to financial forecasts and capacity plans to enable informed business decisions.  This leader will be responsible for driving consistency in data analytics and reporting across Advanced Structures Operations.
This leader will also be responsible for driving execution of our manufacturing hours optimization when viewed on a global scale; ensuring strategic alignment with the AS businesses.

This individual will ideally sit in Charlotte, NC or Troy, OH but other locations are possible if in proximity to a major Collins Advanced Structures site or hub airport

What You Will Do:

  • Provide strategic leadership and functional direction for ME, IE, Robotics, Automation, and Maintenance disciplines across all Advanced Structures factories.

  • Lead standardization and harmonization of operational engineering practices across AS to a unified one AS approach Develop and manage a forward-deployed technical team of subject matter experts (SME) of their respective areas (machining, chem processing, paint, assembly, etc.) to support onsite projects and recovery efforts, ensuring production processes do not encumber business results. 

  • Oversee the application and governance of Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) frameworks to ensure robust, producible, and cost‑effective processes from development through full‑rate production.

  • Sponsor enterprise manufacturing process improvement initiatives to eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and lower Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ).

  • Champion the integration of advanced manufacturing technologies, including automation, digital manufacturing, and next‑generation production systems, to meet future program needs.

  • Lead capital planning and project management processes, ensuring accurate eCAR development and on‑time, on‑budget project execution that meets operational requirements.

  • Drive the productivity management process across AS, ensuring effective shop‑floor visual management, system integration, and machine/labor tracking and reporting.

  • Build maturity in capacity modeling and lead long‑range capacity planning across all AS sites.

  • Drive talent development strategies for ME, IE, Robotics, Automation, Maintenance, and OPM, including technical training, career paths, skills progression, and workforce planning.

  • Optimize the enterprise maintenance network, including predictive maintenance capability, spare‑parts optimization, and maintenance software strategy/selection.

  • Ensure accountability within the OPM function for end‑to‑end coordination of operational execution, including new product introduction, recovery planning, risk mitigation, and manufacturing readiness.

  • Lead enterprise-level roll‑up, analytics, and reporting of key AS operational KPIs.

  • Lead the product transition strategy to best cost countries by ensuring a robust pipeline of projects aligned with long‑range planning needs and overseeing execution to plan.
