As part of the Software Engineering Space and Air Center team, you will be an integral part of helping Raytheon further our vision to be the global leader in core and next-generation defense and security solutions. 

We are looking to hire experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to work in a Quick Response Capability (QRC) environment within Space and Air Center. This is a great opportunity for Software Engineers to work on variety of projects, from small stand-alone components integrated into a larger product, to strategic code modules that are part of a large legacy system!

What You Will Do

Within QRC environment, you will find yourself,

  • Developing software rapidly while performing job responsibilities outside of the typical software role such as requirement discovery software security, operating system configurations and product support. 

  • Developing software in many different languages with a focus on rapidly integrating software components into a customer deployed product while maintaining product quality, configuration management and end-user satisfaction.

  • Architecting, designing, implementing, testing, and debugging integrated embedded real-time software.

  • Working within a cross-discipline team to define, refine, and improve product concept, implementation, testability, and guaranteed, measurable quality.

  • Participate in internal review of software components and systems.

  • Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.

  • Teaching, coaching, and mentoring less experienced staff.

  • This position may require occasional business-related travel (5-10%).

  • This job is onsite in Plano, TX; applicants must be in the area or willing to relocate to it.

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant engineering experience.

  • Experience in developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C++ or closely related software languages.

  • Experience in computer scripting languages such as Python/Shell/Perl.

  • RHEL OS experience.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems, established code bases and create requirements as needed.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance

  • Windows OS, VM/container and reverse engineering experience

  • Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.

  • Experience with DevSecOps pipeline implementation and use, including Static Code Analysis, Automated Build, and Automated Test techniques using continuous integration/continuous delivery with Test-Driven Development approach.
