Purpose:
The Accounting Clerk is an entry level accounting position which requires strong numbers orientation, problem-solving skills, research skills, computer skills and attention to detail and good verbal/written communication.
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing accounting support to the Accounting Manager/Controller or other management personnel within the business unit. Position will perform basic accounting tasks such as keying monthly worksheets into the cycle counting reporting, ensuring files are complete and maintained, assisting accounts receivable or payable duties, and other functions to generally support the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Annual maintenance for document retention including coordination with each department to move files, pulling of file to be destroyed. Coordinating with shredding truck
- Review and work with each department on paperless options. Evaluation of what files can go paperless
- Back up for Accounts Receivable in multiple areas: matching of Account Payable invoices, posting A.P. invoices daily/weekly (depending on volume), processing check run (weekly) and processing of ACH/ Wire payments (Weekly)
- Filing all payments packets
- Assist in processing expense reports (BOA transactions)
- Reviewing received not invoiced reports and trouble shoot missing transactions
- Assist with Audits or any data request
- Assist in the process of Temporary Import Bonds
- Assist in loading invoices into different data bases
- Processing and updating monthly cycle counting reporting
- Special project assigned as requested: month end processes – capture, and journal entries, sales tax analysis
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma, some college and/or appropriate combination of education and work experience to support on-the-job effectiveness
- One year of previous experience or exposure to accounting principles and procedures
- Ability to work independently, exercising appropriate skills for effective judgment, creative problem solving and taking initiative
- Exceptional ability to provide a high level of customer service
- Numbers orientation, with ability to accurately compute various mathematical equations
- Exceptional computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite software
Salary Range: $41,310 - $48,200
