Position Responsibilities:
Maintain, repair, rebuild, diagnose, and correct malfunctions of all types of portable electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
Work from sketches, specifications, blueprints, and verbal information, utilizing precision instruments for accurate measurements.
Wind electric motors for portable tools and perform machine and brazing operations related to tool repair.
Conduct necessary bench operations and inspections for essential preventive maintenance.
Make operational checks of repaired machines to ensure proper functionality.
Guide and mentor employees of lower classifications in tool repair and maintenance processes.
Obtain work packages from designated sources and review previous operator tie-ins for continuity in work assignments.
Ensure all safety processes and features are properly implemented during tool repair operations.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic tools, testing parts with electrical test equipment and replacing or soldering components as needed.
Diagnose and repair pneumatic tools, replacing and installing new parts to restore functionality.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic tools, analyzing malfunctions and replacing necessary components to ensure they hold pressure.
Adjust and repair power feed equipment, including adjusting feed and speed rates as requested.
Diagnose and repair manual mechanical tools, replacing parts and making necessary adjustments.
Use various bench or floor-mounted tools, such as drill presses and bearing presses, to accomplish work assignments.
Operate a machinist lathe to true up spindles or hone bushings, utilizing precision measuring instruments.
Assist toolroom mechanics on aircraft production calls when portable tools malfunction on job sites.
Perform assigned periodic preventive maintenance on factory tools, rebuilding and replacing worn parts as required.
Degrease and clean tool parts using approved cleaning methods in accordance with Boeing specifications.
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner, following safety regulations.
Maintain personal and tool certifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Consult with leads, supervisors, and other stakeholders on process or job-related issues as required.
Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on paint equipment, installing new parts and conducting functional tests.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs. to 15-35 lbs.
Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.
