Description

Position / Title: General Maintenance Worker 3rd shift Wed-Sat

 

Position Summary

Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

 

Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Uses plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Painting structures and equipment.
  • Replaces or repairs concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hangs doors, installs door locks, and replaces broken windowpanes.
  • Performs scheduled inspections/maintenance on such items as Exit lights, Egress Lights, Fire Extinguishers, Eyewash Stations, Filter and Belt changes on AHUs, etc.
  • Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Assists other trades such as HVAC, Carpentry, Plumbing, Painting, Electrical, Etc. in performance of routine maintenance.
  • Works job assignments, researches and requisitions materials, and prepares necessary documents and reports.
  • Requires working scheduled and unscheduled overtime work including areas other than respective skilled trade.

Must have ability to meet the requirements for issuance of a computer network account (favorable National Agency Check and successfully complete computer security training)

 

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
