The Provider Pay and Incentives team, within the Care Foundations group, is responsible for creating a scalable, automated, and transparent system for paying our large network of Care Providers. As a member of this team, you will be instrumental in reducing manual work for our operational and engineering teams, enhance provider satisfaction and trust, and enable Spring Health to support a growing, global network with efficiency and precision.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager - Care, this Senior Software Engineer II will be a full-time role critical to guiding the team. You will be a technical leader involved in shaping strategic architecture decisions, a champion of technical initiatives, and a mentor to the junior engineers. You will work closely with our Product and Engineering leadership to execute on deliverables, as a part of a collaborative team creating the products that transform mental healthcare for the better.
Please note that this is a hybrid role based in New York City, with an expectation to be in office 2-3 days a week. Our office is located at 60 Madison Avenue.
What you’ll do:
- Design and build scalable backend and full-stack services using Ruby on Rails and React
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship high-impact features that improve the member and caregiver experience
- Expand and maintain existing web applications and infrastructure
- Debug and resolve issues quickly and efficiently
- Provide technical leadership in architectural discussions, code reviews, and system planning
- Uphold high engineering standards, including test coverage, documentation, and performance
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support system reliability and respond to production issues
- Collaborate flexibly across time zones, as needed, to support distributed teams and stakeholders
- Mentor and guide engineers, fostering growth and best practices
- Proactively improve team velocity, tooling, and engineering process
- Drive integration of observability, performance monitoring, and resiliency features
- Represent the team in org-wide technical and architectural discussions

- Identify cross-team opportunities and contribute to organizational-level improvement
What you’ll bring:
- 6–8+ years of experience in software development with a focus on backend development
- Expertise in at least one of the following languages: Ruby
