Description
The Role: BigHat Bioscience is looking for a motivated and energetic Associate Scientist* with a strong background in Immunology, cell culture, flow cytometry and primary cell-based assays to support the characterization of our lead therapeutic candidates.*At BigHat we believe in titles that commensurate with skill set, relative organizational impact, and value contribution; more experienced candidates are encouraged to apply, with the understanding that responsibilities and title would adjust as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the development of therapeutics by owning the functional characterization of therapeutic candidates, independently making sense of complex data and initiating the next experimental steps
- Leverage fluency of in vitro immunology experimental methods to plan, execute, and analyze TDCC, T cell activation, cytokine release, FACS, ELISA, ADCC, and other relevant functional assays
- Drive program plans based upon experimental results and make relevant recommendations for program conceptualization and advancement
- Proactively and independently interpret and present scientific findings in context to stakeholders including internal team members, BigHat leadership, and external collaborators.
- Collaborate and communicate across a diverse research team to successfully progress scientific goals
Preferred Qualifications
- BS or higher degree in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, or a related field with at least four (4) years of relevant post-graduate experience including two (2) years in industry
- Technical fluency in immunology and cell biology techniques, such as primary immune cell isolation and culture, multicolor flow cytometry, dose-response and cytotoxicity analysis (TDCC, ADCC) using bispecific antibodies
- Experience with T cell engagers is strongly preferred
- Comprehensive fund of immunology knowledge to complement technical expertise and drive scientific curiosity and critical thinking
- A strong can-do mentality and desire to thrive in a dynamic start-up environment on scientifically challenging projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, namely the ability to present results in context to a scientific and non-expert audience, extracting insights beyond the confines of the experiment
