Position Summary

The Translational Biomarker Research in Aging and Neuroscience (T-BRAIN) Program is seeking an organized and motivated life sciences professional to join our team.

The T-BRAIN is a new, vibrant research program investigating and developing biomarkers for aging-related neuropsychiatric disorders. Successful candidates will work independently or as a member of a project team to perform complex research studies, experiments and assays. This position will serve as a critical team member responsible for implementing and sustaining research projects and general wet lab activities.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Execute technical procedures to support biomarker analyses.

  • Work with Lab management to develop new, and improve existing, research protocols to support project/program objectives.

  • Ensure laboratory activities and research protocols comply with all laboratory Quality Management Systems and laboratory safety objectives and procedures.

  • Ensure lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.

  • Assist in the training of laboratory staff and/or Project Team personnel on laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with all laboratory standards.

  • Participate in rotating off-hours “on-call” response to emergency alarms or occasional support.

  • Additional administrative tasks include ordering research supplies, managing research material inventory, and ensuring compliance with WashU regulations. 


Working Conditions:

  • Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.

  • Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with aseptic technique, cell culture, basic molecular biology applications, ELISA, Flow Cytometry and/or other cell sorting applications.

  • Experience using clinical centrifuges, automated cell counters, biosafety cabinets/fume hoods, tissue culture incubators and other general laboratory equipment.

Salary Range

$18.77 - $31.94 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
