About you and this role
We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a (Senior) Robotics Systems Engineer in the Digital Operations Center.
The preferred location for this position is Wiesbaden (Germany) but we are willing to consider the following locations as well: Terneuzen (Netherlands) and Tarragona (Spain).
The Digital Operations Center (DOC) is a critical component in leading innovation and enabling Dow's Digital Strategy for Manufacturing. The center includes a blend of resources from Operations, Manufacturing & Engineering, Information Systems and collaborates closely with other key functions. The extended team includes personnel with expertise in analytics, process automation, sensors, robotics, digital thread and mobility to digitalize Dow’s operations. This multidisciplinary team coordinates with the other Digital Operations Centers and partner organizations, to facilitate rapid prototyping of new capabilities to enhance the competitive position of Dow's manufacturing and site facilities.
In this role you will provide technical expertise, manage current and emerging technologies as an integrated component of the strategic and project journey that supports the digitalization of the Dow Company for the future. The primary platform will be robotics, but we foresee engagement in Mobility, Sensors and Process Automation projects as well. You will also be responsible for managing and leading the workflow design and development life-cycle management, procurement, and R&D initiatives to evaluate emerging technologies.

Responsibilities
- As a Robotics Systems Engineer for the Robotics Platform within the Global Digital Operations Center, you work at the intersection of chemical operations and automation
- Primarily responsible for supporting or leading Robotics projects for the optimization of plant production and operations globally
- Research, evaluate and report on the emerging robotics technologies and the development of new robotics systems, to support the technology development and provide input to Dow’s robotics Roadmap
- Ensure all solutions deployed are exceptionally reliable and can scale while adhering to all applicable internal requirements and external/government requirements
- With a focus on innovation and sustainability, you will use your expertise and familiarity in Robotics and cross-functional collaboration with other technologies (Machine Vision, Sensor, Digital Thread etc.) to ensure developed and deployed solutions are both quality and cost competitive
- Provides mentorship and coaching to peers on the topic of Robotics technology
- Engages with other platform leads to collaborate or lead projects outside the robotics platform
- It is also expected that the individual will travel up to 15% or as much as necessary to meet the needs of the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in robotics, engineering, computer science or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with robots and robotic systems
- Fluency in English
- Manufacturing or plant operations experience
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with the robotics industry and field and working knowledge of Robotic Software, Robotic Mechanisms or Robotic Electronics
- Project management experience to deliver a project/program within the defined standards, budget, deadlines, and quality requirements
- Ability to flourish with minimal guidance and demonstrate initiative, while being proactive and adaptable
- Experience in architecting and developing robotic software / hardware and technology integration
- Experience in developing / implementing mobile robotic systems or automated robotic systems
- Knowledge of network technologies
