Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chair, the Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Lead provides strategic, administrative, and academic leadership for all clinical operations within the graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). This individual ensures that clinical education meets the highest standards of professional practice, accreditation requirements, and student learning outcomes.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Administration

●        Ensure compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and payer standards (ASHA CAA, ACAE, institutional, state, and federal regulations).

●        Oversee clinical documentation, record-keeping, and assessment systems to support clinical operations and accreditation reporting.

●        Develop and enforce policies related to HIPAA, FERPA, patient safety, and risk management in conjunction with institutional leadership.

●        Collaborate with all clinical staff and faculty, ensuring clinical experiences meet accreditation and certification standards, including ASHA and applicable state licensing.

 

Clinical Education Management

 

●        Supervise Clinical Supervisors, Externship Coordinator, and other administrative staff, and graduate student clinicians.

●        Oversee the placement process for internal clinics and community-based practicum.

●        Maintain strong relationships with clinical partners and develop new placement opportunities.

●        Monitor student progress toward clinical competencies and collaborate with clinicians and faculty to support remediation when needed.

 

Student Support & Development

 

●        Serve as a primary point of contact for students regarding day-to-day clinical education activities, expectations, and progression.

●        Provide guidance on professional development, ethics, certification/licensure pathways, and career readiness.

●        Participate in student orientation, advising, and evaluation.

 

Program Development & Innovation

 

●        Lead initiatives to enhance clinical education models and interprofessional practice.

●        Participate in budget planning, technology integration, and clinic infrastructure development.

●        Engage in data-driven assessment for continuous quality improvement.

●        Performs other duties as assigned.

●        Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED

●        Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

●        Minimum 4 years of experience in clinical operations, clinical education, healthcare program administration, or related leadership roles.

●        Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare compliance, accreditation processes, and regulatory standards.

●        Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

●        Experience managing teams and complex clinical environments.

●        This role requires full-time, on-site presence to support daily clinical and operational needs.

 

PREFERRED:

●        Experience in higher education or academic health centers.

●        Familiarity with ASHA CAA accreditation standards.

●        Background in strategic planning, quality
