Electrical Project Engineer - HVAC

Our partner is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer - HVAC for a position in Long Island, NY. This opportunity is with the FPM Group, a well-established multi-disciplined engineering, architectural, and environmental science consulting firm located in Bohemia and Oneida, New York. They are looking for a candidate to contribute to the planning, design, and execution of complex projects for various governmental and private clients.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize engineering expertise to design and develop HVAC systems for a range of projects.
- Conduct field inspections of existing buildings to gather information required for design and detailing work, including plumbing and low-voltage electrical systems in commercial and institutional buildings.
- Offer construction administration services, such as reviewing submittals and shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and coordinating schedules.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to define project scope, objectives, and requirements, and establish project plans and timelines.
- Address any technical issues and challenges that may arise during project execution and provide timely solutions.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on project status, addressing their concerns, and ensuring their satisfaction.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of design experience as an engineer within a consulting environment.
- A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Competency with MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
- Experience with online project management platforms, such as BlueBeam, ProCore, and Submittal Exchange.
- Professional engineering license (P.E.) is preferred.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Direct experience in systems installation or with a contractor is a plus.
