Animal Urgent Care(AUC), Park Hill, in Denver, is ideally situated just off I-70 between Monaco and Quebec. With Denver’s population growing to the north and east, we’re proud to extend our services to pets and their families in these expanding communities. Park Hill also serves as our educational hub, featuring a spacious conference room frequently used by our Continuing Education team. We regularly host both internal and external events to ensure our team stays at the forefront of veterinary medicine. Additionally, Park Hill partners with the Denver Animal Shelter to help care for many of their animals.

Compensation:
  • $28-$32 hourly, based on experience

Job Description:
ER Registered Veterinary Technicians play a vital role in providing emergency and critical care for animals in a fast-paced veterinary setting. They assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures, while also monitoring patients, administering medications, and performing diagnostic tests. Skilled in triage and patient care, they ensure efficient operation during high-pressure situations and provide compassionate support to pet owners.

The responsibilities of the ER Registered Veterinary Technicians include, but are not limited, to the following activities:
  • Perform treatments on hospitalized patients including the administration of medications by various routes
  • Obtain vitals, blood pressure, ECG, and other monitoring parameters
  • Monitor hydration status, administering CRI’s, setting up IV fluids with multiple lines, etc.
  • Phlebotomy and basic knowledge of hematology and “normals”
  • Basic knowledge of anesthetic drugs, protocols, and anesthesia monitoring
  • Conduct medical record keeping and client communication (particularly in regards to patient updates)
  • Knowledge of common medications
  • Place and maintain viability of intravenous catheters
  • Transfusion therapy including blood typing and cross matching
  • Feeding tube care and maintenance
  • Perform CPCR as needed
  • Apply bandages/splints regularly
  • Discharge patients
  • Check patients in and out of the clinic, including taking payments and reviewing/entering charges in EzyVet and SmartFlow
