Boeing’s Specialized United States (US) Infrastructure Operations Organization is currently seeking a Mid-Level Classified Linux System Administrator to join the team in Berkeley, MO or Hazelwood, MO.   

This position will install, operate, secure, and maintain dedicated Program Information Technology Infrastructure that is required to deliver products to our customers.

This role directly supports our Air Dominance (AD) programs. You will be tasked with installing, operating, securing, and maintaining the dedicated Program Information Technology Infrastructure necessary for delivering products to our customers. We offer Enterprise capabilities within closed networks, encompassing standard office functions, application development stacks, engineering workflows, vulnerability remediation, and more.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of a Linux environment, including scripting

  • Analyzes computing requirements

  • Leads a multi-disciplined range of technical systems and application activities

  • Leads activities to install, configure and maintain multiplatform systems hardware, software and components

  • Leads activities to plan, develop, design, and integrate all computer applications

  • Plans and coordinates highly complex software and hardware for enterprise release

  • Ensures systems conform to architectural objectives

  • Evaluates complex system's production readiness and supportability

  • Performs the restoration of complex computing service operations

  • Performs complex system problem identification and resolution

  • Leads activities to integrate security solutions into information systems

  • Develops project plans for the implementation of Linux systems into a computing environment

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to obtain a Security+, a CISSP certification or equivalent Cyber Security certification within 6 months of employment in this role

  • 3+ years of experience in performing system administration tasks on Windows and Linux hosts including installing security patches and making configuration changes to support security requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering support for RHEL 6 or higher

  • 3+ years of experience with installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering support for Windows 7 or higher

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering support for Oracle Linux/Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 or higher

  • 5+ years of experience with installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering support for Windows 7 or higher

  • 3+ years of experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering support for Oracle Linux/Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 or higher

  • Experience packaging and updating the base Linux operating systems installations

  • Experience with Kickstart Scripts

  • Experience with Bash

  • Experience packaging and updating the base Linux operating systems installations

  • Experience creating and configuring modules in puppet, Ansible, and making shell scripts

  • Experience working with other teams to define the standard practices and the technology stack used to support our customers

  • Experience managing the execution of break/fix requests and larger long term projects to improve the technology stack

  • Experience with installation and integration of Windows and Linux operating systems and related Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products

  • Experience developing and managing the workflow tools and respective metrics to ensure delivery of services and team development

  • Experience evaluating and effectively communicating complex system problems and resolution

  • Experience integrating security solutions (McAfee, Splunk, Host Based Security System) into information systems

  • Experience administering user system access and establishing safeguards to protect information to meet security requirements

  • Experience with Network File Share (NFS) Storage

  • Experience with Diskless Booting

  • Experience with customer service

  • Experience with Grand Unified Bootloader (GRUB)
