Safety is foundational at Enbridge. Protecting our people, the public, and the environment guides every decision we make.

As an Emergency Management Specialist I you will play a key role in governing, developing, and enhancing Emergency Response (ER) plans across GTM’s U.S. and Canadian regions. You will lead system-wide plan updates, manage change processes, maintain critical EM information, and ensure consistent, compliant application of Emergency Management (EM) programs.

If you’re an emergency management professional with strong planning expertise, a meticulous approach to detail, and the ability to partner effectively across diverse internal and external groups, we’d love to have you on our team.

What you will do:

  • Provide governance for all Emergency Response (ER) plans and ER training across GTM to ensure compliance across the U.S. and Canada.

  • Lead the review, revision, and document management of change processes for all Emergency Response Plans, collaborating with small teams and senior Operations leadership.

  • Oversee change management to ensure updated and accurate facility information, response time maps, Incident Management Team details, tactical plan information, emergency equipment lists, and contractor/agency contacts.

  • Maintain the EM Legal Registry, ensuring State, Local, First Nations, and government agreements are mapped to appropriate Emergency Management plans and documents.

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and support the implementation of EM programs, processes, procedures, and initiatives across GTM regions in the U.S. and Canada.

  • Implement and manage the Multi‑Year Training Program across GTM.

  • Develop and deliver training for internal and external stakeholders on EM programs and requirements.

  • Ensure tactical Incident Command structures are in place and trained to program expectations.

  • Lead and execute Incident Command Structure training and large‑scale emergency response exercises across North America, while tracking event budgets.

  • Monitor and maintain emergency management training certifications to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Lead the Lessons Learned Program and support its ongoing improvement and maintenance.

  • Serve as a technical expert in the Incident Command Structure during complex exercises or real emergency responses (e.g., spills, fires).

  • Participate in internal and external program audits, support the EM Program Team, and lead additional initiatives as assigned.

Who you are:

Required:

  • University degree in occupational health and safety, environmental studies, emergency response, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible emergency response experience, ideally within the oil and gas industry.

  • Strong understanding of emergency response regulations and standards in both Canada and the U.S.

  • Demonstrated problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, including during crisis situations.

  • Exceptional organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to innovate, influence change, and deliver results.

Preferred:

  • Experience in program and plan management.

  • Strong strategic and conceptual thinking abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe tools.

  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations and current industry best practices.

  • Other combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Working Conditions:

  • Office‑based role requiring extensive computer, communication, and research work.

  • Travel of approximately 10–15% to offices and field locations across the U.S. and Canada.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours or multiple days onsite during emergency responses.
