Senior Traffic Maintenance Person

Overview

This is a Labor Service Position.

 

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the position):Responsible for the installation, erection, and painting of signs, poles, traffic control devices, and appurtenances; paints and marks loading zones and other traffic lane lines on the street, pavement, and curbs, applies plastic stripping. 

Responsibilities

• Operates lane marking machines; excavates and prepares the ground for the erection of signs, meters, and signal posts; straightens poles with appropriate tools. 
• Maintains, installs, and removes pedestrian delineators. 
• Assists with the placement of VMS boards. 
• Operates hand, electric, and hydraulic-powered tools and compressors. 
• Maintains a record of all completed work performed by the work crew. 
• Participates in the fabrication of signs as directed by all sign shop employees in a higher grade, the Sign Shop Supervisor, and/or the Director of Operations. 
• Performs related duties as required.

May be required to work during an emergency as determined by the Commissioner or designee.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in work related to the fabrication, installation, erection, and painting of signs, plus traffic control devices and appurtenances. 
• Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT:

• Must have and maintain a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
• Must provide a copy of the Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License, Class D.
• Must provide the current Registry of Motor Vehicles Driving Record at the time of the interview.
