Department Overview

The Gas Operations Training Curriculum Development Team is a dynamic group within PG&E Academy that focuses on strategically aligning itself with the Gas Operations business toward a goal of creating the safest most reliable Gas operating system in the industry. Position Summary

PG&E Academy is looking for a Senior Instructional Designer to join our PG&E Academy Curriculum Development Team in support of Gas Operations learning needs. This role works closely with the development team and clients to develop and maintain the learning content, tools, systems, and programs that support our employee’s ability to safely and efficiently perform their work and job tasks. This is accomplished via a wide range of methodologies, delivery mechanisms and formats to meet specific business needs. The Instructional Designer will work closely with subject matter experts as well as internal and external stakeholders to translate business and performance objectives into learning and performance support solutions and to ensure that employees are trained to competence.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​95,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​143,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs analysis, review existing learning options, and facilitate discussions to recommend cost-effective learning and performance support solutions that meet business requirements, support change objectives, and align with industry best practices.
  • Work across lines of business to complete cross functional, complex, high priority learning solutions. Requires developing recommendations and presenting to functional leadership.
  • Lead and oversee the design and production of learning solutions and deliverables, working with subject matter experts and other Academy team members.
  • Manage the assignment and quality of design work to ensure that the learning solution is on time, on target and on budget. Establish and hold others accountable to quality standards.
  • Monitor and report out on learning effectiveness and implement changes as needed.
  • Provide coaching and support to other designers.
  • Provide project management, including, but not limited to, defining the project, creating the project plan, managing timeline, budget, and resources, and providing project updates. Ensure accurate reporting of status and forecasts of managed projects.
  • Partner with delivery teams to ensure successful transition of curriculum from development to the classroom.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Liberal Arts, or related degree /field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 or more years of Instructional Design or Communications or Teaching or Training or Change Management or Graphic Design work experience required. Experience in designing and developing curriculum for cross-functional projects.
  • Experience working on small to mid-size projects and/or training programs
