About the role

The Quality Engineer role offers global exposure within NI and to our customers and enables the Quality Team to be Best in Class in reaching business goals and objectives by driving effectiveness and efficiencies through actionable improvements to product quality and customer experience.   

The Quality Engineer will focus on project management, technical challenges and driving improvements across the organization during product development, deployment and ongoing monitoring of systems, support system-level (cross-product) and key customer escalations.  

This role will report to the Global Quality Department and will be engaged extensively with the Business Units, Global Services, Manufacturing, and R&D to ensure that customers’ expectations are met.
 

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Efficient Customer Quality Issue Management 
  • Develop, monitor, and present key internal metrics to track first time and ongoing Quality at NI. 
  • Provide regular communication to stakeholders and customers through formal communication plans to assure clarity on status, next steps, and resolution of issues. 
  • Drive root cause analysis to identify permanent corrective actions to prevent issues from recurring. 
  • Ensuring Customer Success and Satisfaction: Understands customer sentiment by meeting with customers, conducting interviews & surveys, visiting customer sites, etc. 
  • Ownership of Customer Communication (Recalls, Notifications, & Product Change Notifications). Understands customer sentiment by meeting with customers, conducting interviews & surveys, visiting customer sites, etc. 
  • Lead the organization to proficiently execute RCCA activities (8D, 3L5W, 5Why, FMEA) and the application of other Quality tools to foster a culture of continuous improvement in terms of quality, cost, and efficiency.

For This Role, You Will Need: 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar engineering science degree  

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality, Process Engineering or related field   

  • Demonstrated experience managing quality programs/projects  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including FMEA, failure analysis, and root cause analysis  

  • Excellent communication skills   

  • Ability to lead and drive issue management
