Position Summary / Department Summary:
The Accounting and Financial Reporting Analyst II provides comprehensive accounting and analytical support to the reporting team by independently preparing, analyzing, reviewing, and reporting on monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables. The role performs a wide range of complex accounting functions, ensures compliance with GAAP, identifies process improvements, and collaborates across all levels of the organization to support internal and external reporting objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare recurring financial transactions, reports, and analyses related to the hospital operating financial statement, balance sheet, intercompany activity, and other sub-ledger schedules in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries for assigned accounts and funds, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Reconcile assigned accounts and analyze general ledger accounts and selected cost centers, including grants and special funds.
  • Provide management with interpretations and explanations on trends, year-over-year changes, and projected impacts.
  • Prepare financial and statistical reports for monthly closes, quarterly reviews, and year-end audits.
  • Respond to internal and external ad-hoc requests by preparing detailed, polished reports including summaries, graphs, and charts.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic reports for regulatory agencies and other external organizations.
  • Assist with ASC 842 lease accounting, prepare journal entries, and provide technical knowledge of lease treatment.
  • Collaborate with department managers to develop action plans, timelines, and data needs to monitor progress.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements and best practice applications; may lead to implementation of initiatives.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain supporting documentation for monthly close, quarterly reviews, and year-end audit.
  • Lead or participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Health Care Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field.
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial reporting and analysis or a similar setting.
  • Experience with advanced Microsoft Excel, database tools, and financial reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, accounting for leases (ASC 842), and audit preparation.
  • Proven ability to evaluate analytics, interpret data, and provide viable solutions and recommendations.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Experience leading or supporting process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight as well as cohesively with a team.
